The Carolina is located in a convenient location to gaming at Harrah's Casino, the attractions of Cherokee and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and to all of the great year around activities that Western North Carolina Has to offer.
Blue Ridge Parkway has an entrance located 5 miles from us at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Blue Ridge Parkway stretches 469 through the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia and is a great drive for viewing endless mountain vistas and wildlife.
Cataloochee ski area is located about 25 miles from us in Maggie Valley, NC. It offers several slopes from green runs to black diamonds and is a great ski resort for the all levels of skiers.
Chimney Rock Park offers an amazing view, multiple hiking trails, a waterfall, and several points of interest. It is located about 2 hours from us.
Dollywood is located about an hour's drive from us through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is a theme park featuring live music and thrill rides.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park has an entrance 4 miles away from The Carolina and covers Parts of North Carolina and Tennessee. It has miles of scenic overlooks, picnic areas, wildlife, and historic places.
Harrah's Cherokee is located 1 miles away from us, offering gaming, fine dining, and live performances.
Museum of the Cherokee Indian is approximately 3 miles away. This museum displays many artifacts of the Cherokee tribe as well as offering gifts and souvenirs.
Native American Craft Shop is approximately 4 miles away in Cherokee and offers a fine gallery of Native American art and crafts.
Oconaluftee Village is also about 3 miles away. It recreates an Indian village of the 1750's to offer an insight into the history of the Cherokees.
Santa's Land is a theme park located 3 miles from us in Cherokee and offers a petting zoo and rides for a day of family fun.
Grandfather Mountain is a two hour drive from us. Featuring an outstanding view of the Blue Ridge Mountain range and a mile high swinging bridge, it is a popular destination on clear summer days and in the fall.
Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is 13 miles from The Carolina. It offers several options for sightseeing though 53 miles of the Great Smoky Mountains railway system.
Unto These Hills is the Cherokee's outdoor drama, performed 3 miles from us in an amphitheater and offering a great, educational activity every evening in the spring and summer.
Fishing is also a popular activity in Western NC. Whether our guests are fishing in one of the many rivers here or are going to Trout Farms of Western NC, they are sure to make a lively catch and enjoy the beautiful Western North Carolina scenery.
Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking, and Water Sports are a popular sport in Western North Carolina. There are several whitewater rafting and kayaking outfitters located within a 30 minutes drive from us. Carolina Mountains Outdoor Center and Tuckaseegee Outfitters both serve the nearby Tuckaseegee river. For a little more action, our guests can check out Nantahala Outdoor Center or Wildwater Rafting, both serving the Nantahala River. Another fun activity for the whole family are jet boat rides on Fontana Lake provided by Smoky Mountain Jet Boat Rides.
